San Andreas

Studio: Warner Bros.          Director: Brad Peyton

Method was called upon to digitally destroy Los Angeles for the action-packed disaster film. The large-scale destruction required full CG environments, simulated wreckage and atmospheric effects. Method captured downtown LA with a Lidar scanner and collected aerial photography and lighting references. At the heart of the LA destruction sequence is a continuous three-minute shot tracking the heroine as she fights her way through a shaking mid-rise building toward the roof and awaiting rescue helicopter. Method also played a key role in leveling San Francisco, completing all the foreground destruction in the Bay Bridge demolition scene. Atomic Fiction created the interior destruction sequence when the first earthquake hits – the collapse of a marble atrium.
