Chevy '2012 Silverado' picks up the golden trophy

Method's VFX teams for the 2012 Super Bowl ad Chevy '2012 Silverado', and the multi award winning drama Argo directed by Ben Affleck - dressed up in their finest suits and ties for this years VES Awards. Argo was shortlisted in the Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects category and Chevy in the Outstanding Compositing in a Commercial category.

The Visual Effects Society is the entertainment industry's only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners and the awards event recognizes outstanding visual effects in twenty-four categories of film, animation, television, commercials and video games. Filmmakers, celebrities, producers and guests joined more than a thousand attendees from the visual effects industry for the sold-out gala – which honored director Ang Lee with the VES Visionary Award, presented by Dennis Muren, and Richard Edlund with the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Harrison Ford.

We were overjoyed to discover that our Chevy spot was picked as the winner in the commercial compositing category and Benjamin Walsh, Dominik Bauch and Nicolas took to the stage to pick up the trophy. This epic spot aired during the 2012 Super Bowl and Method were brought on board to realise the desolate landscapes, complete with a flying saucer, giant robot, volcano and toads raining from the sky.

Jeffrey A. Okun, Chair of the Visual Effects Society, commented, “Over eleven years, our awards show has developed into a truly special event. Each year, we put a spotlight on artists' achievements in visual effects and we thank everyone who came together tonight to honor the artistry of all of our winners and nominees.”
